A report by a non-profit founded by the late Canadian Jean Vanier claims he sexually abused 25 women during his decades with the group.

L’Arche International says the incidents happened between 1952 and 2019, the year he died.

The report says relationships between Vanier and the women are “part of a continuum of confusion, control and abuse.”

Vanier – the son of former Governor General Georges Vanier – worked as a Canadian navy officer and professor before turning to Catholic-inspired charity work.

He founded L’Arche in 1964 to help those with developmental disabilities become full-fledged participants in the community.
