Canadian director James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water” led ticket sales for the sixth straight week making it the first film to have such a sustained reign atop the box office since Cameron’s original “Avatar.” in 2009.
“The Way of Water” has now surpassed $2 billion in ticket sales world wide.
You have to go back to the Kapuskasing-born director’s original “Avatar” to find a movie that stayed No 1 for that length of time.
Before that, the only film in the past 25 years to manage that feat was Cameron’s 1997 blockbuster “Titanic” which went undefeated for 15 weeks.
