Las Vegas-style casinos are now a possibility in New York City as state authorities consider opening up the last major untapped gambling market in the US.

Greater New York City is home to close to 23-million people and a tourist destination for millions more.

For gambling companies, New York is the last big prize in the country.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Mayor Eric Adams are in favour saying they hope new casinos can help offset pandemic financial losses and spark other beneficial development.
