The latest reaction to the Ford government’s plan to expand surgeries and some other services to private healthcare clinics comes from the group representing hospitals.
The president of the Ontario Hospital Association says plan will take a ton of work and presents many risks.
Anthony Dale adds hospitals are most worried about losing staff to the clinics.
He says it’ll be important for clinics to have strong ties to a hospital in case something goes wrong during a hip or knee surgery.
The government maintains there’ll be safeguards in place to prevent doctors, nurses and other hospital workers from being poached.
