Canada’s men’s junior hockey team is on top of the world after a 3 – 2 overtime win over the Czech Republic to claim gold at the world junior hockey championship in Halifax.
Edmonton’s Dylan Guenther scored the opening goal and the winner. Burlington’s Shane Wright, who captained the team, got the other goal on what was his 19th birthday
Canada is the first team to repeat since winning five straight gold medals between 2005 and 2009.
The tournament’s top scorer, North Vancouver’s Connor Bedard, and seven other returnees won gold at last summer’s tournament in Edmonton.
Bedard was named tournament MVP.
