A private funeral by invitation only for the Ontario Provincial Police officer killed last week is being held Wednesday, January 4th at 11 a.m.

Family, friends, colleagues and other officials will pay tribute to 28-year-old Constable Greg Pierzchala at an arena in his hometown of Barrie.

The service is not open to the public but it will be broadcast for people to view in-person at the Caledonia Lions Hall in Haldimand County where Greg Pierzchala was based.

A private visitation will take place Tuesday.

Hundreds of first responders and the public attended a procession on Friday to pay tribute to the slain officer.

Pierzchala had just completed his probation to become a permanent member of the OPP. He was killed in what police have called an ambush attack after he responded to a call for a vehicle in a ditch west of Hagersville, Ontario on December 27th.
