Stanley Drucker, a 60-year veteran of the New York Philharmonic and known as the dean of American orchestral clarinetists, has died.
Drucker performed under five music directors over six decades and personified the orchestra’s brilliant, brash, character.
He was one of the longest-serving wind players of any of the great American ensembles, took part in 10,000 performances and recordings and found time to teach at Juilliard for a number of years before retiring in 2009.
