One of Canada’s largest and most exhibited private collections of historical Canadian art fetched almost $20 million dollars at auction.
The highlight was Emily Carr’s 1912 “The Totem of the Bear and the Moon” that sold for over $3 million.
Also offered for public sale, Tom Thomson’s 1916 Petawawa Gorges.

The final sale price for Thomson’s piece? $1.85 million.
Thursday night’s auction was the first of three landmark live auctions dedicated to the private collection.
