In Poland, that country’s president says there is “absolutely no indication” that a missile which came down in Polish farmland near the Ukraine border, killing two people, was a deliberate attack.

The chief of NATO has made a similar statement.

Poland’s president said Wednesday that neighbour Ukraine likely launched the Soviet-era projectile as it was fending off a Russian air assault that savaged its power grid on Tuesday.

U.S. President Joe Biden told reporters at the G20 Summit in Bali, it was unlikely that Russia fired the missile.

Also on the sidelines of the G20, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said other G-7 leaders and members of the NATO military alliance have spoken with Ukraine’s foreign minister about the missile hit in Poland.

“There’s no question that this is all because and linked to the fact that Russia is continuing to escalate its war on civilians and it’s illegal and unjustifiable war against Ukraine,” Trudeau explained.

Trudeau also announced Canada is extending its training mission of Ukrainian soldiers.

Canada has been training Ukrainian soldiers in Britain since 2015 as part of Operation Unifier.
