QUEBEC CONDUCTOR EARNS FIVE GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

Among the big nominees at Tuesday’s Grammy Award announcement, Montreal classical composer Yannick Nezet-Seguin who’s up for five awards.

His name appears in Best Opera Performance, Best Classical Collection, Best Classical Solo Vocal Album as a pianist and twice in the category Best Opera Recording,

Last year, he won his very first golden gramophone, for the project Price: Symphonies nos. 1 and 3, crowned Best Orchestral Performance of the Year.

Nézet-Séguin has worked regularly with many leading European ensembles.

Meantime, rocker Bryan Adams has been nominated for Best Rock Performance for So Happy It Hurts. The 63-year-old singer , composer and Zoomer magazine photographer has just wrapped up the Canadian leg of his ”So Happy It Hurts” tour and kicks off the European/UK/USA part of the tour in the Netherlands on November 23rd.

Toronto rapper Drake is also up for three Grammys.

The Grammy awards ceremony will take place on February 5.
