In Indonesia, leaders of the world’s largest economies appear ready today to convey a strong message from most condemning Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the G20 Summit Tuesday, via videolink.
Zelenskyy likened Ukraine’s recent recapture of the southern city of Kherson to the Allied landings in France on D-Day in the Second World War, saying both were watersheds on the road to eventual victory.

A draft declaration by leaders of the G20 major economies echoes the condemnation of Russia’s war by the United Nations deploring “in the strongest terms the aggression by the Russian Federation” and demands its withdrawal from Ukraine.
But the statement also noted there were different views on the situation and on sanctions against Russia.
Canada’s prime minister spoke to the leaders, denouncing Vladimir Putin’s Russian war, and how it’s affecting the world with a food and energy crisis.
“These challenges are real,” Justin Trudeau explained, “And only through collaboration, between business and governments, civil society can we create real lasting solutions.”
Both Trudeau and U.S. President Joe Biden are also expected to press the world’s largest economies to further isolate Russia diplomatically and economically over its war in Ukraine.
