On the exterior of a demolished building outside of Kyiv, a delicate painting of a gymnast performing a handstand has emerged. It appears to be the creation of British graffiti artist Banksy.
On his Instagram page, he shared pictures of the artwork in Borodyanka.
During the initial stages of the Russian invasion, the Ukrainian town was the scene of fighting and bombardment that reduced residential complexes to burned-out ruin.
The gymnast is depicted in a black-and-white mural, painted so that it appears as though she is performing a handstand on broken concrete blocks.
Other war-damaged walls in the vicinity are now decorated with murals that resemble Banksy’s work but haven’t been officially attributed to him.
