Saying he tries to be consistent, John Tory would be open to slapping a toll on the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway.
”I would because I believed in it before,” adds the two-time incumbent mayor.
He had brought a proposal six years ago to city council for a $2 toll on both highways.
Councillors approved the idea which was later turned down by the previous Wynne Liberal government.
”So I just have to decide as the leader of the council whether I want to bring that forward again and have them reject it again because that to me would be a waste of time,” Tory said in a media interview.
”We own those roads, not the province, and we pay for all the upkeep. And half the people who use them are not paying taxes in Toronto.”
