Doug Ford sees nothing wrong with 28-year-old Michael Ford becoming minister of citizenship and multiculturalism.
In his first news conference since introducing the new, 30-person cabinet last Friday, the premier defended his decision to include his nephew.
”I think he’ll do an extremely good job,” said the premier.
”He has a lot of knowledge and he’s been an elected official probably longer than more than 60% of our caucus.”
Ford points out Michael previously served on Toronto city council and was a school trustee.
The premier’s comments followed a closed door meeting with Mayor John Tory, who says Doug Ford’s nephew is ”thoughtful … hard-working” and understands ”his community as well as anybody else,” adding that everyone should ”give him a chance.”
