With Doug Ford’s nephew Michael winning the riding of York-South Weston for the Conservatives, City Council will fill his Ward 1-Etobicoke North council seat by appointment.
By law, when it’s more than 90-days until the next municipal election; which is October 24, and by-elections not permitted after March 31 in an election year, vacancies can only be filled by appointment.
Those interested in Ford’s seat can throw their names into the ring between Thursday June 9 and Monday June 20.
Council will then meet four days later to select the person who will hold the seat until the end of the current term – November 14.
