It appears nearly a quarter of Canadians have been infected with COVID-19, while three in four have not contracted the virus.
“What was really striking was the difference when it comes to age,” Leger Executive Vice-President Christian Bourque says.
The Leger poll reveals that 30-percent of respondents between 18 and 34 say they had been infected with COVID, while 12-percent of those 55 and older had contracted the disease.
Bourque says the age dynamic makes sense, since the more social you are – going out to restaurants, bars and concerts – makes you a little bit more vulnerable to getting the disease.
Vaccination status also played a role, with 38 percent of unvaccinated respondents saying they had been infected compared with 20 percent of those who are vaccinated.
