COVID-19 has hit the Toronto Maple Leafs, forcing the postponement of two games, last night in Vancouver and tonight in Seattle.

Last night, the Leafs added five more team members to the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol, including head coach Sheldon Keefe.

Defencemen TJ Brodie and Travis Dermott, goalie Jack Campbell and assistant coach Spencer Carbery were also placed on the protocol list.

On Friday Captain John Tavares, along with Alex Kerfoot, Wayne Simmonds and Jason Spezza were added to the list.

Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas said two of the four players are asymptomatic, while one had mild symptoms that have dissipated and another has a fever, chills and body aches.

The Leafs next game is Thursday at home against St. Louis.

Locally, Canada’s largest minor hockey association has postponed all competitive games until Thursday, effectively suspending play until the New Year.

The Greater Toronto Hockey League says the decision is in response to public health concerns amid surging rates of COVID-19. The GTHL  is still scheduled to take its annual mid-season break from December 24^th to January 1st.
