Tina Turner has sold the rights to her music catalog spanning six decades.
The legendary 81-year-old singer becomes the latest vocal artist to strike such a deal for their work.
The catalog was sold to music company B-M-G and includes Turner’s share of her recordings, her publishing writer’s share, name, image, and likeness.
BMG did not disclose the price it paid but industry experts estimate the deal is worth more than US$50 million.
Turner has 10 solo studio albums, two live albums, two soundtracks, and five compilations, which together have sold more than 100 million records.
In a statement, Turner says she’s confident her work is now in reliable hands.
Turner was the first Black artist and the first female artist featured on the cover of Rolling Stone.
