The 59th New York Film Festival begins today with what the previous edition lacked; people in the seats.
It opens tonight with Joel Coen’s “The Tragedy of Macbeth,” staring Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand.
To keep audiences safe in the well-ventilated Lincoln Center theatres, the festival has instituted Covid-19 protocols like mandatory masks and proof of vaccination.
The main slate involves 32 new feature films from around the world.
It runs through October 10th.
