The Metropolitan Opera in New York is planning to present its second work by a Black composer when “X:The Life and Times of Malcolm X” opens in 2023.
Malcolm X appeared on “Front Page Challenge,” in 1965. Shortly after his appearance on Canadian TV, the Muslim, human rights activist was shot and killed in New York. He was just 39.
The Anthony Davis written Opera will feature baritone Will Liverman in the title role.
The Met opens its current season September 27th.
