Quebec will bring in a vaccine passport system in the coming weeks.
Premier Francois Legault also announced there will be more details in the coming weeks.
The province had said it would wait until September to start requiring Quebecers to show proof of immunization to access non-essential services in regions of Quebec where transmission’s high.
Legault says the increase in cases and prospect of more hospitalizations and deaths have made a passport system necessary.
”People who made the effort to get their two does should be able to live a somewhat normal life,” adds the Quebec premier.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he supports the decision and is looking to implement passports in other interested provinces.
Doug Ford has said he does not support a proof-of-vaccination system for Ontario.
