Premier Doug Ford says it’s a “hard no” on mandating COVID-19 vaccines for health care workers, including those working in long term care.
“No, I think it’s their constitutional right to take it or not take it, these are super bright people that work their backs off, the unsung heroes, the PSW’s, the nurses and the docs, they understand healthcare a lot better than I do, said Ford.
The Premier also says he rejects the idea of a vaccine passport.
“No, we aren’t doing it,” he said. “We’re not going to have a split society.”
But he’ll raise the issue Thursday evening with the Prime Minister tonight during their call.
Ford was speaking at the groundbreaking for a new 200-bed long term home in Toronto set to open in the summer of 2023. Runnymede Long-Term Care Home in Toronto will be fully air-conditioned.
