As of today, this country was averaging about 1,500 new cases daily — an 80% drop from two months ago, and comparable to the caseload from mid-October.
Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Theresa Tam says the trajectory has improved dramatically and with millions of more doses of vaccine on the way, Canada should be ”on the path back to the things we miss.”
More than 27.7-million doses have been administered, including 2.6-million this past week alone.
Dr. Tam adds seven-in-ten eligible Canadians over the age of 12 have received one dose, and one-in-ten are fully immunized.
Meanwhile, University of Oxford-based ”Our World in Data” says Canada now is first globally in terms of the number who got at least one shot, slightly surpassing previous leader Israel.
