We first met him as the cool undercover cop Linc Hayes in the 60’s TV show “The Mod Squad.”
Clarence Williams III has died at his home in Los Angeles after a battle with colon cancer.
Williams career spanned over five decades in theatre, television and film.
He received a Tony nomination for his role in William Hanley’s “Slow Dance on the Killing Ground” on Broaday in 1964. He also played Broadway opposite Maggie Smith in Tom Stoppard’s “Night and Day” in 1979 before being cast as the troubled father in “Purple Rain,” which came out in 1984.
Clarence Williams III was 81.
