Her name was “Tempest Storm” and she was considered one of the most celebrated burlesque performers of all time.
Tempest Storm, whose real name was Annie Blanche Banks, has died at her home in Las Vegas.
She was one of the most celebrated strippers of the golden age of burlesque and plied her craft into her 80s. Her long time manager says she didn’t have to that, but did because she could.
She played burlesque stages across the U.S and in Europe and in the 1950s was was making the equivalent of almost $1 million a year.
She was also the subject of two documentaries, “Behind the Burly Q” in 2010 and “Tempest Storm” in 2016.
Tempest Storm was 93. No cause of death was released.
