Being homebound in Owen Sound has inspired a cheeky new campaign to spread the word about this scenic city along the shore of Georgian Bay.
The Georgian Bay Symphony, the venerable Roxy Theatre, and the popular Summerfolk Music and Craft Festival are just a few reasons Owen Sound is considered Canada’s cultural hot spot.
And now, this scenic city at the foot of the Bruce Peninsula is known for pjamas!
“Work From Home Capital of Canada is the website that’s lots of fun to go and look at and that’s where people were signing up to get their free pair of pajama pants,” says Owen Sound Mayor Ian Roddy.
He says the free PJ giveaway was so popular, they’ve had to order more.
“People working from home doing Zoom meetings, facetime meetings and WebEx and all those things often are putting on suits, ties and dress shirts on the top half, and pajama pants on the bottom, so we wanted to have some fun with that.”
This work from home marketing campaign features videos of residents including the Mayor around town wearing business attire on top and PJ bottoms.
It’s a clever way to sell Owen Sound’s relaxed lifestyle to big city dwellers looking for a change of pace who are able to work remotely.
“We just encourage anyone to come and give us a look when they’re out shopping around for a place to live outside of Toronto, it’s the perfect place to live.”
