Mayor John Tory says building long term care homes in the city at ” war time speed” is encouraging. He stood alongside Doug Ford for a rare public appearance outside Humber River Hospital where they announced the fast tracking of a new 320 bed long-term care home to be built on the site by the end of next year.

“Today’s announcement which is nothing but very, very good news for Toronto, for the province and for seniors, is another significant step forward when it comes to more and better long term care being available to the people of Toronto and Ontario,” said Tory.

The government previously announced two new homes will be built in Mississauga with 640 beds.

The Premier continues facing questions about his government’s back-to-school plan that does not include reduced class size in elementary school. Ford repeated it’s the best and safest plan in the country.
