The Premier says 500,000 medical masks being shipped from the U-S to Ontario will “buy us another week” before the supply runs out.

Earlier, Doug Ford issued a dire warning that the current supply of PPE’s, personal protective equipment like masks and gowns, would run out within 7 days. Ford says Ontario is ramping up production of equipment at home, but most of those supplies are weeks away from being ready. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says he’s confident shipments of medical supplied from the U-S will continue to arrive in Canada.

The province is offering a one time payment to parents whose children remain out of school due to COVID-19. Education Minister Stephen Lecce says parents will receive $200-dollars-per-child 12 and younger and $250 for those with special needs 21 and younger. The money is in addition to the recent education fund offered to parents impacted by rotating teacher strikes. Lecce says the money will be issued within days once registered online through the government’s website
