Canada’s Auditor General for the past seven years has died.
Michael Ferguson died Saturday at the age of 60 after battling cancer.
His office says Ferguson was surrounded by his family when he passed away.
Michael Ferguson was appointed auditor general in 2011 by then Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
Prior to holding the federal post, Ferguson served in a variety of roles in the New Brunswick government, including five years as the province’s auditor general.
