Our Federal Finance Minister has won an award.
Bill Morneau has been named the 2017 Business Newsmaker of the Year in a poll of newsrooms across the country by The Canadian Press.
CP says he easily beat the other 8 candidates which included Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland and Alain Bellemare, the CEO of Bombardier.
Morneau had some rough patches through the year, including heavy criticism over his tax-reform plan.
As well, he faced ethical questions concerning the handling of his personal and family business assets after he took up his high profile cabinet position.
And a formal examination was launched by the federal ethics commissioner over conflict-of-interest allegations.
