In an effort to make Canada’s military more inclusive and diverse, the Chief of Canada’s Defence Staff, General Johnathan Vance will soon be giving the okay for members to wear their uniforms when attending Pride events.

The news comes as Toronto wraps up Pride Month with its annual Pride Parade on Sunday.

The announcement by General Vance is expected to be similar to an order issued earlier in the week by Royal Canadian Navy commander, Vice-Admiral Ron Lloyd that lets sailors wear their uniforms at Pride events.

It’s believed the directives by the two leaders will not only help the military better reflect the Canadian society that it’s sworn to defend, but could also have a positive effect on recruitment.

The directives come as Toronto wraps up Pride Month with the city’s annual Pride Parade tomorrow.
