Toronto police continue to investigate a hate crime in Willowdale.
Over the weekend, Police were called to an apartment complex on Beecroft Road and found that Mezuzah’s – blessings traditionally posted on the doorways of Jewish homes – were vandalized and post it notes with pen-drawn swastikas were stuck to the doors.
Toronto police officers went door to door Monday looking for witnesses and to assess if anyone else had been victimized.
Local Rabbi’s attended the units as well to help replace the Mezuzah’s.
Mayor John Tory released a statement yesterday afternoon condemning the crime.
It was the second time this weekend Tory sent out a release denouncing hate after he condemned an anti-Muslim rally Friday.
