The United Nations Security Council has defeated a resolution by Russia that called for a separation of extremist and moderate forces in Syria.
It failed to get the required minimum of nine yes votes.
It didn;t address halting the bombing of the battered city of Aleppo.
A motion by France calling for an immediate halt to the bombing of Aleppo was vetoed by Russia.
In the meantime the United Nations Children’s Agency, UNICEF, says more than 100 children have been killed in bombings in Aleppo since September 10th, and calls the situation “terribly dire.”
It says hospitals have been hit by bombs, and doctors are overwhelmed.
