A man who used pepper spray on a crowd of Syrian refugees in Vancouver could end up facing hate-crime charges.
Police are looking for the culprit who was riding a bicycle at the time when he sprayed a group of muslims standing outside a mosque where the newcomers were being welcomed to the community.
Vancouver Police Chief Adam Palmer says the person could be charged with assault with a weapon or assault causing bodily harm.
Fifteen people who were sprayed, including children, were treated for burning eyes or other ailments.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed outrage over the incident.
