Uber can continue to operate in Toronto.
An Ontario judge sided with the ride-sharing company Friday, and dismissed an attempt by the City of Toronto to have Uber declared a taxi company that must abide by the city’s regulations.
Judge Sean Dunphy dismissed the city’s application for an injunction, saying there is no evidence the company is operating as a taxi broker.
Uber has maintained that it’s a communications company, simply linking drivers and passengers.
The judge said that issues about evolving communications technologies must be resolved politically.
