Actress Viola Davis is the star of the hit new television series, “How To Get Away With Murder” but she says she remembers well the days when she was growing up in poverty and crawled through maggot-filled garbage bins to get food.

The Tony award-winning actress says those memories are what fuel her drive to end childhood hunger.

Davis was honoured for her work to end childhood hunger by an audience of Hollywood who’s-who at a Variety Power of Women luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel yesterday. 

The 49-year-old Davis says her work with the “Hunger Is” campaign is the joy of her life.

The “Hunger Is” mission is to eradicate childhood hunger in America and improve health-related outcomes for humgry chldren and their families.
