Saturday, November 9th was the 75th anniversary of what is known as Kristallnacht — the night of broken glass.

On that date in 1938, the Nazis conducted a wave of attacks on Jews in Germany and Austria.

They ransacked homes, hospitals and schools, and burned over a thousand synagogues and seven-thousand Jewish businesses.

Ninety-one Jews were killed in the attacks, and thirty-thousand were sent to concentration camps.

To mark the day, many Germans held candle-light vigils on Saturday and listened to survivors share their memories.
