Celine Dion performed in Mandarin at the Chinese New Year’s Gala in Beijing as millions across the world welcome in the Year of the Snake.
The Canadian singer’s first song was a duet with Chinese soprano Song Zuying of traditional folk song Jasmine Flower.
She also performed her global hit My Heart Will Go On, from the Hollywood blockbuster Titanic, which became hugely popular in China.
Dion said “It was a wonderful, big honour when I was asked to come here to China and to perform for the New Year’s Eve. I know it’s a very very important celebration.”
When asked if it was difficult to sing the music of another language, Dion said music transcends boundaries.
