We Zoomers may face important issues as we prepare for retirement, but retiring world-class athletes have their own unique set of problems to deal with.

Now that the London Games are over, some 30-odd retiring Olympians face the daunting question — what’s next?

For world-class athletes who’ve focused their lives on training, their next Olympian task has no direct path.

They must readjust to a routine outside competitive sports and create a new life that may or may not involve the limelight.

The challenges have given rise to a small field of “performance lifestyle advisers” who specialize in helping retiring athletes develop careers outside the sporting world.
