Jane Brown’s 2017 Bladder Cancer Awareness Walk

For the third year in a row, I am walking in memory of my Mom who died of bladder cancer on May 1, 2012. Sandy Brown fought this disease for 3 tireless years, but passed away at the age of 68. She was far too young to go and had so much to live for, including 9 grandchildren. My efforts, and those of my team mates, will help ensure other people like my Mom have a greater chance of survival!

Bladder cancer is the fifth most deadly form of cancer to affect Canadians, yet funding for bladder cancer research is also only a fraction of what other “more publicized” cancers receive.

I have been a cancer research fundraiser since 2006. For 4 years, I captained a Run for the Cure team. And in 4 additional years, I co-captained a team with Libby Znaimer and Leanne Wright for The Weekend To End Women’s Cancers. Our supporters helped raise some $140,000 for cancer research.

Since 2015, Team Jane Brown has raised $12,000 from generous donors, including many Zoomer Radio listeners! Thank you again! I hope I can count on your support once again! You will receive an instant tax receipt right after making a donation.

I would also like to extend a big thank you to my supportive company, ZoomerMedia Ltd, for sponsoring my team!
