The lights of Toronto’s Princess of Wales theatre will be dimmed Wednesday at 8 to honour Frank Stella.
He was an abstract artist who contributed over 10,000 square feet of art to the theatre.
Stella is described as a giant in post-war American painting and one of the most influential visual artists of the 20th century.
During construction of the theatre on King St. West in the early 1990s, the Mirvish family offered it as a blank canvas.
That was when Frank Stella painted murals, both inside and out of the Princess of Wales Theatre.
Frank Stella died May 4th in New York at the age of 87.
