The federal New Democrats have tabled their own pharmacare legislation, with leader Jagmeet Singh saying his party is “no longer content” to wait for the governing Liberals to do so.
The N-D-P version of the bill stipulates that a federal pharmacare program must be universal, single-payer and public.
Last year, the two parties struck a confidence-and-supply agreement that keeps the N-D-P supporting the government on key votes in order to hold off an election in exchange for progress on certain priorities, including pharmacare.
