Some Zoomers may be amazed by this.

“Singing in the Rain” turned 70-years old this week and the widow of the star has decided now is the time to debunk some of the myths surrounding the classic film.

“Singing in the Rain” was released April 11, 1952 with Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds playing the leads.

Kelly’s widow says one myth has the director adding milk to the raindrops during the signature musical number to make sure the drops were visible.

Not so, says Patricia Ward Kelly.  She says it was accomplished through phenomenal cinematography and great lighting.

She met Kelly when he was 73 and she was 26 and says he was surprised at how much people loved the movie and couldn’t have possibly imagined people still watching it and enjoying 70-years later.

Gene Kelly died in 1996 at the age of 83.
