Justin Trudeau says there’s reason for optimism in 2021 on the news that hundreds of thousands of doses of the Pfizer vaccine are expected to arrive in coming weeks.
The prime minister has received word that the drug maker will be shipping 125,000 doses-per-week in January for a total of 500,000.
They’re mainly destined for front-line health care workers and long-term care residents.
Pfizer’s already committed to delivering 249,000 this month.
Roughly 375,000 Canadians are expected to be inoculated with the two-dose shot by the end of next month.
Meanwhile, Canada’s also expecting delivery this month of 168,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine that’s still awaiting regulatory approval.
”As we’re preparing to say goodbye –and good riddance — to 2020,” Trudeau says Canadians have to be more careful than ever during the holiday season.
