Premier Doug Ford says he’s “disappointed to say the least” over the massive crowds at Trinity Bellwood park this weekend. He’s now encouraging everyone at the large gathering to get tested for COVID-19. “It was like a rock concert without the band, these are smart who were there, c’mon guys, give me a break,” said Ford during his daily briefing. “Don’t do reckless things like that.” But the Premier says he won’t consider rolling back some of the lifted restrictions for the reckless actions of some.
Meantime, health officials have decided to delay implementing a family bubble-type rule or loosening a restriction on gatherings of over five people in part because of what happened at Trinity Bellwoods. Christine Elliott says a bump in the number of cases of late likely relate to people gathering for Mother’s Day. She adds health officials are reluctant to move ahead with increasing so called family bubbles right now because of some large gatherings and discouraging new case numbers.
