Mayor John Tory and Raptors superfan Nav Bhatia have joined forces to invite Torontonians to make a pitch for Raptors superstar Kawhi Leonard to stay in Toronto.
They announced the creation of a website called kawhiushouldstay.com, where people can post their messages and pitches on why the NBA Finals MVP should stay in the city.
“This is a better way for thousands upon thousands of people to say ‘we want you to say,'” said Tory. “It is a short time in which is has to make up his mind. He can enjoy the city. We hope he’s enjoying it all.”
Leonard has the option to opt out of the final year of his contract and test free agency.
People have been documenting Leonard doing everyday activities like eating and getting moving boxes. Bhatia and Tory are saying the website is a better way to give Leonard is space while showing him the joy he’s brought to the city.
Teams can start signing free agents on July 6th.
