One of the most esteemed modern poets in France has died at the age of 93.
Yves Bonnefoy had more than 100 of his books translated into 30 different languages and translated the the plays of William Shakespeare into French.
He published his first volume of poetry in 1946.
Bonnefoy also taught comparative poetics at the prestigious College de France from 1981 to 1994 and held posts at a number of universities in the United States.
