Quebec director Xavier Dolan has won the best foreign film category at France’s Cesar Awards for “Mommy.”
Ironically he beat out Richard Linklater’s “Boyhood” and Wes Anderson’s “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” They’re both in the running for Best Picture in Sunday’s Oscars, while Dolan’s film was snubbed in the best foreign-language film category.
“Mommy.” which takes place on Montreal’s South Shore, is about a mother who struggles with a violent teenage son.
It’s Dolan’s fourth nominaton for best foreign film at the Cesar Awards, and has recived wide critical acclaim.
