The focus will be be on Toronto city hall today as Mayor Rob Ford makes his return to political life after two months in rehab. For the mayor, it will be a return to the intense public glare which he has largely avoided for the past two months since he said he would seek help for alcohol abuse. According to a letter he sent to the city clerk’s office, Ford plans to resume his mayoral duties this afternoon. However, Ford’s role has been largely symbolic since city council stripped him of most of his power last fall. Ford has a media statement scheduled his afternoon but won’t be taking questions from reporters. It’s expected, with less than four months left in his term, Ford will devote much of his time to getting re-elected in this fall’s mayoral race.
