Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev is skipping the annual meeting of Nobel Peace Prize laureates that he initiated in 2000. The 82 year old is receiving unspecified treatment at a German hospital. A spokesman for the former leader says doctors told Gorbachev not to interrupt treatment. The spokesman declined to give further details except to say this is not an emergency and don’t forget Gorbachev is 82. The 13th annual meeting is being held in Poland to mark 30 years since former Polish President Lech Walesa was awarded the prize for leading the Solidarity movement that toppled communism in Poland.
